This week, there has been several scholarship announcements from many countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Kenya.

Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals

Details: The study program starts in Autumn 2021. The scholarship is funded by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.For the application process, you have to first apply to a Swedish University.The scholarship is provided in partnership with 30 universities in Sweden so you have many options. After you have gained admission into a Swedish University, applications for the Global Professionals scholarship will start on the 8th of February 2021


Strategy:

The aim of the scholarship is to train leaders who will contribute in achieving the United Nation's 2030 agenda on sustainable development–The SDGs. The UN's 2030 SDGs have 17 goals;

GOAL 1: No Poverty

GOAL 2: Zero Hunger

GOAL 3: Good Health and Well-being

GOAL 4: Quality Education

GOAL 5: Gender Equality

GOAL 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

GOAL 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

GOAL 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

GOAL 10: Reduced Inequality

GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

GOAL 13: Climate Action

GOAL 14: Life Below Water

GOAL 15: Life on Land

GOAL 16: Peace and Justice Strong Institutions

GOAL 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goal


As you write your application essays, you should keep two things to keep in mind:

Your past: Because the scholarship targets professionals, you need to show how your current or previous job or the activities you had been involved with helped achieve one or many of the above SDGs. Use the STAR method; what was the SITUATION, what was your TASK, what ACTIONS did you take and what were the RESULTS.

Your future: Right now, how will getting the scholarship help you contribute more to the SDGs. What are you future goals? How will you be a leader and an agent of change after the program comes to an end.
